The Story

Here's a link to Crystal telling the proposal story. Or click on my YouTube link on the left side of the page. Enjoy :-)

Anxiously Engaged...

Well, it finally happened. After having the ring, the planned proposal, and anxiety for weeks, I finally asked Crystal to marry me. To my delight, she said yes :-)
Crystal's blog (http://crystalfoy.blogspot.com) tells the whole story, so I won't retell it here, but I'd like to add a few details...

First of all, can I just say, I love Crystal so much. It's kinda ridiculous. Anyone who knows her can admit she's incredibly sweet, kind, beautiful, and thoughtful. She is such a genuine person and she has no doubt made me a better man. She's impacted my life eternally. I do not know what I did to deserve someone so amazing. She's everything.

So, here are some interesting details about the proposal...

-Yes, I had the ring for weeks, but even up until we were eating dinner on the night I proposed, I had Crystal convinced I didn't have it yet, or at least wasn't going to propose yet. I felt so bad "lying to her" about how I didn't have the ring and I how I wasn't going to propose for awhile. I guess I'm a pretty good actor, 'cause I had her fooled for a long time. It killed me because I was dying to get that ring on her finger :-) Also, she was always bringing up her ring and how she wanted to be engaged. She was pretty mad at me, but I knew it was coming soon :-)

-On the day I picked up the ring from the jewelry store, Crystal took her roommate Whitney to go look at it just two hours after I picked it up. I said to myself, "I really hope she's not here when I pick up the ring." Well, just a few hours later, there she was, trying it on and showing it off to her friends. Our ring saleslady did a great job of covering for me though.

-In the few weeks prior to me proposing, Crystal had mentioned how I should write a song for her. I told her I'd be to embarrassed to write her a song and play it for her, when in actuality I had been working on a song for her for months. I think it turned out pretty well :-)

-I had proposal ninjas. Much mahalos to Mansco and Paulie P. Chops (Sam and Paul) for their stealth abilities. They helped set everything up, and break everything down so I didn't have to worry about anything, and could just focus on making the proposal a special experience for Crystal. As payment, the two of them ate mine and Crystal's leftover chinese food from dinner that night. Well deserved. Sam and Paul, you guys totally rocked it.

-When we pulled up to the castle and Crystal still didn't know what was going on, she was supposed to come with me, but she stayed in the car. We had planned for that, so no worries. When I went up to the amphitheater the first time (while Crystal was still in the car), there were two ladies up there taking pictures. Upon seeing me and the guitar set up by the stage, one said, "Oh, are you planning on having a little concert tonight?" To which I replied, "No, I'm proposing!" She misheard and said, "Oh, you're just composing, then we'll just be quite and stay out of your way." Then, a little frustrated, re-explained "No, I'm PROPOSING!!!" She finally got it and they agreed to leave. It was a minor, but funny setback in the proposal plan.

-Crystal's blog originally had a caption of a picture of the two of us reading "My finance :-)" It was a typo, and was supposed to read "My fiance :-)" We agreed that really both are true, I'm her fiance and her finance :-)

I guess that's about it. I have to say, I've never been happier. Crystal lights up my world. She's so adorable and fun, so gorgeous and refreshing. Too bad she's away for the next week, I miss her so much already. Nevertheless, August 15th will be the greatest day of our lives. I can't wait to be married in the temple to the love of my life and the girl of my dreams, Crystal Camille.

...It's in the air...

Life is good. Yesterday was great. I love Sundays, but this one was particularly enjoyable. I had a priesthood leadership meeting in the morning where I learned a thing or two from the Stake Presidency and Elder Coleman of the Quorum of the Seventy. It was inspiring. That afternoon we had the concluding session of our Stake Conference. It was especially meaningful because our presidency was released and a new one called
and sustained. It was a very spiritual and uplifting meeting, regardless of the horridly uncomfortable wooden seats and sweltering heat.

After conference, I went with my three favorite people (my life, my love, and my lady) Crystal and her roommates to take pictures at the Provo Temple. It was a beautiful day and we just goofed around and took pictures.

I'm a lucky guy, Crystal is such an amazing girl. Honestly, it's kinda ridiculous :-)

The House of the Lord...

This morning Mansco and I went to the Provo Temple. It was such a great experience. I'm so grateful the temple is so close, and I can go there anytime to feel unparalleled peace and comfort. The temple is the only place on earth to really escape the pressures, responsibilities, and confusion the world offers everyday. Today was especially meaningful, because I was seeking guidance and confirmation on some eternally important decisions and I got just what I needed :-) I love the gospel, and I love the temple.

Rockin' Ain't No Walk In the Park Lady...

So last night was great. My dream girl, Crystal, and I hit up Smith's and bought ingredients for an enchilada casserole. It was so good, as you can see from the pictures. We had so much fun messing around at the grocery store and making dinner together. I'm completely in love :-)

After our delectable meal, we played a healthy amount of Rock Band with a group of friends. Rock Band may be one of the greatest inventions in the history of the universe.  The top 5 is like 1) Electricity 2) Fire 3) The wheel 4) Rock Band 5) Sliced bread. I'm always amazed at how incredibly good Crystal is at Rock Band, I love it. Watching her play the drums is a thing of beauty :-)

Who even knows what I was singing, but I assure you it was intense

She's so good :-)

Michael Weber's Day Off...

Bueller? Bueller? So I found out my afternoon class was cancelled, and i didn't really need to go to my morning class, so I guess I get the day off. Kinda nice. No, I prolly won't hijack my friend's dad's Ferrari or go see priceless works or art or eat pancreas or sing on a float in a parade, but I will definitely relax :-)

A First Time For Everything...

Well, apparently blogging is something everyone has to do these days. Admittedly, I'm terrible at keeping a journal, and therefore will also probably fall behind in keeping this blog up to date, but i think it'll be fun while it lasts...

My life right now is incredible. I'll be done with school in August, I have an amazing job waiting for me at Kohl's Corporate back home in good ol' Wisconsin, and I'm head over heels for Crystal Foy, the most wonderful, beautiful, kind, warm, caring, and fun girl in the world. Life is good, I can't complain. I suppose that's it for now. I can't imagine anyone really reading this, so I guess I'll stop it there :-) Aloha!
